Dear Friends,

Michelle Obama once famously stated, “When they go low, we go high.” This motto has driven our campaign team to stay our course of running a positive campaign. If you receive the Saturday newspaper, you likely saw that the Whidbey News-Times and South Whidbey Record published an article about a series of malicious emails sent out that impersonated my team. The article points out that, according to the County Prosecutor, the person or people who sent the fraudulent emails may have committed a Class C felony.

What was my response in the wake of this potential crime? My team worked with me to submit reports to law enforcement and solicit legal guidance, and I continued to knock on doors and plan upcoming campaign events. When someone tries to stomp us out, we will only try to climb higher. It’s a busy season in a crowded race, and we have many voters left to reach. We will stay the course and continue our campaign plans of showing voters that they have the option to vote for someone who truly cares about the short-term and long-term future and health of Island County.

It’s only April, and I know there’s still a lot of work to do before the primary. All of that work is only possible due to support from people like you. If you care about a positive future for Island County, I hope you will consider supporting me today.

Former Island County Commissioner, Helen Price Johnson, who has played a key advisory role on my team sent her own words of encouragement this past week, “Don’t fight back, fight forward.” I took this advice when I hit the pavement this past weekend and knocked on doors in a Langley neighborhood. I was lucky enough to meet a local couple who spent extra time conversing with me about the hopeful future of expanded collaboration between city governments and Island County government if I win. Five more individuals asked for yard signs. Three amazing friends and supporters decided to co-host an upcoming private campaign party at a local cocktail bar. People all over our district want to help fight forward.

Thank you for your support!
